I’m sure I’m behind on this discovery but recently I’ve started online shopping for household basics. Some people do it because they hate to shop or don’t like taking the time to go to the grocery store but I have found it is just cheaper. Simple as that. As I have become much more frugal, I’ve also started doing a lot more research on how to get the best quality items for the lowest price. Some things I don’t care about the cost because I just love them too much to sacrifice them but basics like toilet paper, paper towels, etc…I can be flexible. Also, how convenient is it to go online, pick out what you need and come home from work 2 days later to all of the stuff you needed! Awesome.
So I decided to do a little side by side comparison of my most recent Jet.com order with what I would have cost me from Amazon Prime Pantry. In this case, Amazon turns out to be cheaper by $0.05 BUT technically I got more for my money with Jet.com in this particular case as you will see.
But first, a few facts to compare the two websites and how they work.
Ok so now that we have some facts about the two sites, we can make a simple judgment. Just by looking at the above facts, I would chose jet.com. If we just look at my side by side shopping comparison however, you might go with Amazon due to it being cheaper. But the biggest selling point for me is that the more I buy with jet.com, the cheaper things become and the no annual fee. (But if you use Amazon Prime for multiple things that may not be a factor.)
So here is the side by side of my shopping…
So, a few things to note. I got an 18-roll of toilette paper from jet.com, but amazon.com only offered the Cottonelle12-roll pack. Second, yes the prices for most products are higher on jet.com, however, the more you buy the cheaper it gets. I did not buy any “qualified items” from amazon.com, therefore, I would have had to pay the $5.99 in shipping.
All in all, the two are pretty comparable for the items I needed. When I buy another round of items, I will compare and share again.
