I thought it was best to start at the beginning. I’m going to try to be as candid and real with everything I write because, lets be honest, reality isn’t something we get much of in social media these days. Especially in the fitness industry, but that is another post for another time. So this is just a quick summary of how I changed my life with some dumbells and a waterbottle.
So lets go back to 2014. I was working offshore, a new resident of Texas and living the good life. And by good life I mean, eating (and drinking) whatever I wanted, working out occationally and having fun in my time off. Life was good. Accept for that one internal battle I was fighting every day…I HATED how I looked. Now I know it’s not all about appearance, its about what was on the inside but I was miserable and it was obvious to the people around me. Finally one day on the way home from the gym, I lost it. My (now) husband stopped the car, pulled over and looked me square in the face and said “Baby, I love you, but you have change something. You can look like you do for the rest of our lives and I will be more than happy but if you aren’t happy, that doesn’t do either of us any good.”
And just like that something clicked. I was going to make a change. One of my friends at the time was getting ready to compete in her first NPC Figure show and I decided I was going to give it a shot too!
Six months later, after a lot of sweat and tears, in April of 2015 I stepped on stage. It was one of the proudest days of my adult life so far. I had worked so hard, made so many sacrifices and learned so much about health and nutrition. I can truly say, competing changed my life! (There is a downside that I experienced later that I will write about in another post.) But overall, it was the happiest I had been in years. I competed again that Novemeber and December. I had found my passion, health and fitness. Not just competing, because I knew I wanted to take some time off, but learning about nutrition, and different workouts and just how to create a body I wanted.
This blog will be a place for me to share information I have learned, tips and tricks I find work for me and things that I think the everyday woman should know about her health and fitness. If you have any questions or ever want me to address or research any topic please let me know!!
